It is with great sadness that Wakeboard UK reports the tragic death of 15 year old Jr Mens rider Ryan Birch.
Ryan lost his life along with his father and 2 other passengers in a light airplane crash on Sunday the 5th of August 2007.
The airplane crashed shortly after refuelling on the Isle of Wight en-route to join Ryan's family holidaying in France.
Shocked by the terrible news Wakeboard UK Chairman Graham Creedy commented:
"Ryan was present and rode on Saturday at the Groms National Championships placing 4th in heat one the Junior Men's division.
Ryan was a quiet and friendly lad who had many friends, he loved to be on the water wakeboarding, skiing and barefooting and had great ability and intensity competing on the British circuit for well over 5 years through all divisions.
Ryan's family were members at Chasewater Waterski club near Cannock, West Midlands and also rode with friends at West Midlands Waterski club, Tamworth.
Wakeboard UK and all wakeboarders throughout the UK send their deepest condolences and respect to all of Ryan's family and friends on this absolutely tragic loss."
